JEREMIAH VERSE FOR JEFF FOR ABOUT SECTION

Afraid of getting lost, he stopped and tried to remember the right path- the old road his family used to take but he couldn’t. At last he saw another traveler; he asked, got directions, and proceeded on his journey toward home.

We are naturally inclined to follow the easy path or the path of least resistance. This is the wide road of the undisciplined, the worldly and the ungodly. Jesus said, ‘the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life and there are few who find it.’ There are only two pathways, one leads to destruction and the other leads to life. One is readily found; the other is the road less travelled. It can only be entered by one’s calculated, deliberate and careful choice but a choice that leads to life and rest for the weary traveler.

We live in a culture where decisions are being made for us; our freedoms and liberties are under siege. We are told wrong is right and right is wrong and there are new taboos. Mass media, the alphabet news and our entertainment sources have all taken to training the public what to think. It’s a wide road to destruction and many, if not most, innocently follow the piper. Jeremiah 6:16 says, “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask ‘where are the ancient paths’, ‘where is the good way’, walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls”.

Jesus loved to tell stories that every day people like you and I could understand. He might have explained the verse with a story like this… A certain man was making his way home to the country side he had known years before; he came to a place where the road split into several directions.
