When we launched Crossroads we began to build our entire mission on this verse: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16. The truth is this: people are lost. They find themselves in hard places wondering where to turn. Families get ripped apart, hearts get crushed by the burdens of life, even churches struggle to stay on the good path.
It's like this:
"A traveler is going to a particular city; he comes to a place where the road divides into several paths, he is afraid of going astray; he stops short, endeavors to find out the right path: he cannot fix his choice. At last he sees another traveler; he inquires of him, gets proper directions-proceeds on his journey-arrives at the desired place-and reposes after his fatigue. The soul needs rest; it can only find this by walking in the good way."
We all are travelers. We all tend to wander off the good path. So God reveals to Jeremiah, 'Ask Me where to turn, I will reveal that to you and there you fill find rest. At Crossroads there is no elaborate band, no big lights or stage, no 'keepin' up with the Jones'. Our services are uncomplicated and our people are ordinary people, trying to stay on that good path just like you. We invite you to come. Come rest. Get energized for the journey.
Then go to a world of travelers with the good news of Jesus and show them the good way.
